Charlotte Joan Walden, age 80, of Seligman, Missouri passed away on Sunday, November 09, 2008 at her home in Seligman.

Mrs. Walden, daughter of Leland C. and Hazel (Hoke) Skiles, was born on September 17, 1928 in Adair, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Arlus “Wayne” Walden in Olympia, Washington in 1953. Charlotte was a retiree of the US Civil Service and was a veteran of the US Army. She worked as a secretary for many different Civil Service Communication offices which included Ft. Richardson, Alaska, Ft. Lewis, Washington, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, Illinois National Guard, Camp Ellis, Illinois. She also worked in the Division of Records for the Washington State Highway Patrol, and was a previous employee of the US Corps of Engineers in Rogers, Arkansas.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Arlus “Wayne” Walden, of Seligman, Missouri; one son, Darrell Wayne Walden, and his wife, Tammy, of Camdenton, Missouri; two daughters, Debra Jean (Walden) Davis, of Battlefield, Missouri, and Julie JoAnn (Walden) Scott, of Battlefield, Missouri; one brother, Carroll Skiles, and his wife, Wanda, of Astoria, Illinois; four grandchildren, Dillon Walden, Codi Walden, Lindsay Scott, and Kyle Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Leland J. Skiles.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri with Minister Ken West officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Walden Cemetery in Carroll County near Busch, Arkansas on Highway 62 with Pastor Bob Scott officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 12th, from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walden Cemetery or to the Seligman Senior Center and may be entrusted to the White Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mineral Springs Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri with words of comfort spoken by Bob Mizer. A complete obituary will be posted at a later time.
 
 
Darrell D. Burger, age 82, of Cassville, Missouri, formerly of Harlan, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.

Mr. Burger, son of Otis and Helen (Erickson) Burger, was born on August 8, 1926, in Redline, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Clara Irene Johansen on August 1, 1943. To this union five children were born. Clara preceded him in death in August of 1970. In the early 1960’s Darrell opened Harlan Mechanical Contractor, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2000. He married Marcia (Stofferson) Findlay in a quiet ceremony on May 19, 1975, in Omaha, Nebraska. She survives. Darrell served as a past city councilman and Mayor for Harlan, he was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Harlan. Darrell and Marcia moved to Cassville, Missouri, in 2000 after several years of vacationing in the area. Darrell was a kind and caring person who always had a great sense of humor and loved sharing it with people. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Marcia Burger, of Cassville, Missouri, Darrell is survived by two sons, Ron Burger, of Malvern, Iowa, and Tom Burger, and his partner, Ty Webb, of Los Angeles, California; three daughters, Sandra Kopta, of Greenbelt, Maryland, Patricia Nordby, and her husband, Marvin, of Salida, Colorado, and Judy Will, of Malvern, Iowa; four step-sons, William Findlay, of Minatare, Nebraska; Mark Findlay, of Harlan, Iowa, Cole Findlay, of Harlan, Iowa, and David Findlay, of Persia, Iowa; one sister, Marjorie Leinen, of Papillion, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; fourteen great-step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Harlan, Iowa. Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the charity of your choice in memory of Darrell.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.
